We're Not Robots

We're not robots so why practice like one?

No matter what your sport your practice needs to replicate the game/sport you do. Repeating the same move over and over, from the same place, will not improve your performance.

I regularly see golfers practicing with a robotic mindset; hitting shot after shot from the same spot. Unlike robots we are not consistent in our approach.  Each swing we take will be slightly different from the last, however our incredible mind is able to make the necessary adjustments, to subconsciously coordinate our body to perform the task.

Whilst a robot can repeat a swing with consistency, it can only do it from the same position each time. When playing golf our position changes with each shot. So if you want to improve your performance, then make your practice difficult. Hit a shot to a target and then either change your target, or club, or set up, for the next shot. Force your mind to make the computations and adjustments necessary.

Practice out on the course, you will develop far quicker in the environment in which you compete. Inject some tension into your practice by competing against a friend shot for shot, make it as realistic as you can.

Training your mind will develop your mental toughness and unlock your true potential.
