I heard a lovely quote this week on the radio "You can't change the wind, but you can adjust your sail". The quote struck a chord with me and throughout the day I kept finding myself revisiting the words and thought it would make a great blog. As I mulled over the wise words, I began to consider the changes my readers are trying to make and two regular themes appeared;
Looking for a way to play better golf
Trying to find a cure to resolve an issue/challenge
Whichever camp you sit in, I'm pretty confident you will have tried either traditional technical coaching with your local professional, or purchased new equipment after listening to the marketing promises to improve your game. I appreciate its' good practice to have a lesson with your PGA professional to refresh your technical skills and to remove bad habits, we can all fall foul to poor set-up, misalignment or incorrect grip positions. However, if you find you're struggling to play well in competition or have issues with anxiety, lack of focus or find your game has plateaued and not improved, then technical coaching or new equipment will not give you the results you're looking for.
